Micheal Arap Lel Foley who is the CEO of Telenor Pakistan revealed on his Facebook page today. That Telenor and Zong will share their Fiber optic network in Pakistan.
Its been a long time since Cellular networks in Pakistan started 3G and 4G services providing lighting fast access to the internet. The CEO of Telenor Pakistan said :
Last night we signed a landmark deal with Zong to share optical fiber between the two companies. The great success of our 3G services has created a lot of demand for transmission capacity and getting fiber to a large number of sites is absolutely critical. In keeping with our strategy of ‘working smartly’ we got an agreement which gives us both big benefits on realizing synergies while at the same time making hundreds of km of deployed fibre available to each other. It’s a first of its kind agreement in the local industry and we would continue on the path to get the best benefits from asset sharing. Tremendous work done by Strategy and Technology teams, supported by a cross functional team of experts from Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Sourcing and other functions.
Well we hope that both the companies come up with a great solutions and facilitate us with great transmission speeds and lighting fast low pings.
