Ways to sepped up your website

The load time of your website is one of the important factors affecting your website’s SEO and rankings. If your website’s load time is faster, then it will be liked by search engines especially Google.

Most users will just skip your website if it takes a lot of time to load up. People usually don’t have a lot of patience when surfing on the web and going through websites. If your website loads slowly, it means you have lost your unique visitors. The more slow it is, the more unique traffic you lose.

There are simple ways using which you can easily speed up your website. These methods are effective and works good.

1. Optimize your images :

You need to use jpg images since they have the smallest size. The more smaller the image is, the faster is your website’s load up time. If a webpage has smaller images, then the load up time will be fast and if it has images with large sizes, then it will not be fast.

2. Image format :

Image formats are important too. Apart from optimizing your images, you need the right image format as well. Make sure you use .jpeg format.

3. Optimize your CSS :

Many of the websites nowadays are using CSS. So you need to make sure that CSS is being cleared. CleanCSS is an online tool  that will merge sectors and clean the CSS for you.

4. Use a slash on your links :

Using a slash on your links is quite helpful as well. When a user opens a link for example : www.diaryinc.com/about –  then the server will have to find out that whether the given link is a directory else, a page. So using a slash can tell the server directly that this given link is a directory. It will speed up the load time of your website.

5. Use height and Width tags :

One other thing that you have to do is to use height and width tags. Many people usually forget to add the height and width tags on their images. The benefit of  using these tags is that when you use the them,  what happens is that the browser reserves a spot for images, and loads the rest of the page, and thus it results in speeding up your website loading time.

6. Reduce the Http request :

When a webpage is being opened, then images etc will require a check to the server so make sure you reduce the http requests by combining all the CSS files and images together.

7. Use the cache :

Browser cache can store up cached version of static resources. This speeds up the page load speed and reduces lag.  You can enable the caching by adding the following piece of code into your .htaccess file.

# BEGIN Expire headers
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresDefault "access plus 1 seconds"
ExpiresByType image/jpeg "access plus 2592000 seconds"
ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 2592000 seconds"
ExpiresByType image/gif "access plus 2592000 seconds"
ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 604800 seconds"
ExpiresByType text/javascript "access plus 604800 seconds"
ExpiresByType application/javascript "access plus 604800 seconds"
ExpiresByType text/html "access plus 2592000 seconds"
# END Expire headers

8. Minify HTML, CSS and JavaScript :

Html, Css and Javascript can be minified and in other words, they can be compressed. You can Google for  Html, CSS and Javascript compressors and you will find some that you can use to minify HTML, CSS and Javascript.  Minifier is an example that can be used to compress them.
